South Shore Furniture, City Life Collection, TV Stand 50", Honeydew & Charcoal Review

I've done DIY assembly numerous times in the past, and my experience had always been terrible. Missing parts, inadequate instruction, half-assed design...

Not with this item.

Delivery was fast, considering it came from Canada. Packaging was a bit roughed-up, but the contents remained intact. No missing parts, very clear and good instructions of 25 steps. It took me about 3.5 hours (I was not in a hurry and read the instruction very carefully...I am also not that much of a handy-man). At some point I called customer support to report a part I mistakenly thought was missing. It was a Saturday, but my call was answered immediately, and the order for a new part placed by a courteous operator (free of charge, of course). I then called back and cancelled the order because I found the part.
The unit is nice-looking, just as the picture, and all the parts (including the cabinets) fit together well.
Overall, given the functionality and appearance I think the item presents a very good value for the price paid.

Just what we wanted - EROOM - TUCSON, AZ, US
We were looking to downsize from our huge, heavy oak entertainment center and found this TV stand. Easy to assemble and looks great.

LOVE IT! - Mandy - Brooklyn NY
Not too sure how anyone had a problem putting it together. I'm a 21year old female, it took me a little over an hour. The quality of this piece is great, really heavy wood and very sturdy! I'm very please with my purchase and would definitely recommend!!!

Good Product for the money - M. Sabatino -
When I initially received the stand, the top, larger shelf had a scratch 1/2 of the width of the piece and it wasn't something that I could touch up nor live with. I called Amazon, got a partial credit and then called South Shore who eventually shipped out a replacement piece free of charge. It took about 10 days to get it, but in the end I got a great deal on the unit. The directions aren't too difficult to understand and one person can assemble this for the most part (although having an extra hand in a couple steps helps). I did not install the feet, as they are plastic and cheep-looking, but the stand looks great without them and sits on carpet. I have a 46" flatscreen and it looks fine on the upper shelp. I was looking for a relatively inexpensive stand that was a little more compact in a dark espresso/chocolate finish. This is a good buy for the money and the frosted glass and nickel accents add a little class to the unit.

How to Get a Girl Back From a Guy

Getting a girl back from a guy may seem like an impossible situation, but it's not. You can get your ex back even if she is seeing someone else, but you've got to follow some key guidelines.

To start with, you cannot let yourself be jealous. Well, at least you can't let her see you jealous. If you run into her and she's with some new guy, you have got to just keep your composure and be happy, friendly and brief and get out of there. But don't screw it up and act all jealous or try to break the guys hand with a Rambo handshake or anything. Your best defense is just to keep the meeting as brief and cordial as possible. If you show jealously you'll ruin it.

Also, you need to start dating as well. Now listen, I didn't say you have to fall in love or anything, but you do have to start dating. It's a lot harder for your ex to see you with someone else that you think and that's a mighty powerful weapon you need to wield.

Another great suggestion is to expose the ways you are better than this new guy to your ex. Notice I said "expose" and not "tell". You need to show her, not tell her. Don't ever ask about him or compare yourself to him or anything like that. Look for one of the things that you and your ex really connected on, something that she really admired in you, and let her see that about you. Maybe it was your health and fitness regime or your dedication to your children or family - whatever it was that was a huge spark before, try to find a way of being that back to her attention without telling her.

How to get a girl back from a guy is not easy to do because it is so hard for us to see our gal with someone else. But you cannot let yourself lose control. Stay focused and you'll be amazed at the results.

Family Guy - The Journey Episode

Peter Griffin and three of his friends go to the local bar at Karaoke night. To Peter's surprise, the bar is in a relatively lackluster mood. To get things going a little, Peter decides to perform Journey's most famous song, "Don't Stop Believing." His friends were hesitant at first to join in, but after a few lines, everyone was enjoying themselves.
People begin crowding into the bar from the streets to see the performance. The crowd quickly gets out their lighters and begin to sway back and forth together in harmony. At the end of the performance, Peter and the rest of his friends were thrilled that they had attracted such a crowd and that they were so pleased with their music, so he and his friends vow to create a rock band.

This episode is one of the Family Guy all time classics for a couple of reasons:

1. Almost everyone likes the band Journey. Their music truly "hits home" to the average, blue collar, working American struggling to get by. Even those who do not like Journey are at least familiar with the band and their songs.

2. This follows Family Guy's formula. Make fun of millions of people [Journey lovers, and those who sing karaoke at bars], and make subtly funny lyrics and gestures along the way.

The Family Guy Journey episode was definitely a must watch for all of the fans of the show. It will be forever remembered as one of the best single animated t.v. shows of all time.

Handyman - Working For the Elderly

There are thirty five million people right now that are sixty five years or older in America and three out of five of those people are female. This means that if you are a married woman you will likely outlive your husband. The average life span difference between genders is eight years with most men living to 74 years of age and most women living to 80 years of age, but many women outlive their spouses by fifteen or twenty years.

Being a widow can be the first time many women have lived alone in their entire lifetime since many went from their father's home to their husband's home without being on their own in between. For the average widow the adjustment to singlehood from a lifetime of being married can be stressful and it is only accelerated by the worry of maintaining the home they have lived in the majority of their lives.

Most adults in their sixties today were raised in the era that dictated men worked outside of the home, came home at night, helped to disciplined the children and spent the weekend doing the small honey do's that involved installing something, building something or fixing something while the wife took care of the children, cooked, cleaned and kept the home nice. The loss of a spouse dictates the loss of that lifestyle.

For the widow it can be hard to know where to turn to get help in doing the things that their spouse knew how to do but they don't. Hiring someone to clean the gutters or install a flat screen television is a financial option for many women but they simply don't know how to find someone they can trust to do the jobs. The elderly are preyed upon by con artist and the unscrupulous and that fear of being victimized can make it difficult to know who to trust well enough to bring into your home.

One method that has been successful for many elderly women is to hire a handyman service based on the recommendations of other consumers. A consumer based web site like Angie's List is an excellent way to locate local handymen who are being vouched for by clients both past and present in the same geographical area. Knowing you are hiring someone who comes highly recommended to do those small honey do's can help make the transition into widow hood at least a little less painful.

Money Making and the Family Guy

This article is for the guys and perhaps those who want to understand them a little better. Within almost every guy is a natural inclination to provide for his family. There are exceptions of course, but for the most part the guy still has the desire to provide well for his family. This typical 'Guy' will assume the pressures of the monthly bills and the pressures of keeping his family healthy and safe.

As 'Guy' ages he begins to think of retirement and or college education for his children. He does what he can, but most often never really feels as if he's done enough. The pressure mounts.

His family will generally tell you that he is a great provider, but 'Guy' doesn't really believe this to be true. He will typically believe that if he were a great provider he would be able to meet the future needs of his family as well as the current ones. From his vantage point he may consider himself a failure.

Sometimes without realizing it he shifts into overdrive and takes on longer hours to compensate.

It's at this juncture that many families become concerned about 'Guy' because they automatically assume he doesn't want to be around the family and that accounts for the overtime and lack of physical presence within the family.

In many cases 'Guy' does not view what he is doing as abandonment he is simply trying his best to shoulder his own perception of the financial pressures he encounters.

This is one of the reasons I like to talk about moneymaking ideas from the perceptive of a family affair. 'Guy" is motivated to meet present and future financial commitments and is often the stabilizing force in financial ideas that involve the entire family.

A family run moneymaking idea can allow the man to do something meaningful to contribute to the family needs while giving his family the opportunity to be engaged with their 'Guy'.

Increasingly women are feeling a similar pressure especially if they are single parents. However, what needs to be known is that the primary motivator for overworking has to do with the inborn desire to make life better for others.

'Guy' will typically consider himself a successful parent and husband if he can just bring in a little more cash while the wife may not harbor those same feelings. She may consider 'Guy' to be successful if he's around to play with the kids or eat a meal with the family.

I think if husbands and wives understood what motivates the other to do the things they do they would find more common ground. The role of a family money making idea can be instrumental in allowing the man to become an improved provider while allowing the wife to feel that her 'Guy' is engaged in family life a bit more.

I'm certain it is an overstatement, but I believe a lot of family strife could be avoided if a husband and wife were to move forward with a wealth enhancement idea together with a better understanding of why each responds the way they do.
